My name is pronounced like papaya. Aya. Aya Papaya. My pronouns are she/her. I live & work out of Seattle, Washington.
I have been shooting professionally for 14 years. 2019 marks my 10th year photographing weddings! I started out in the music industry and it is still a large part of my life.
Works have been featured in publications such as The New York Times, NPR, Sportswear International, International Traditional Film Photography Society, Spin Magazine, and AP Magazine. I have shown my work across several cities, ranging from Seattle, Denver, Chicago, and DC. I am also a published children's book illustrator.
Outside of my creative work, I run the Seattle chapter of Progressive Asian American Christians — a group for socially, politically, and theologically progressive Asian American and Asian diaspora Christians. We are LGBTQIA-affirming, feminist, justice-oriented, anti-racist, anti-classist, anti-ableist space that holds a wide range of theologies. Feel free to contact me for more information.
I love lists. Here is a list of things I love:
Shooting and collecting Polaroid & film cameras.
Beer! IPAs and Sours/Wilds are my favorite.
Hockey; particularly the Colorado Avalanche.
Electronic music. Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, and Boards of Canada are always in rotation.
Thrifting, antique stores, estate sales, and garage sales.
Looking for a wedding photographer? I'd love to chat! I am also available for travel.
