I was taking the ferry back to Anacortes from San Juan Island. I photographed a wedding the day before. I received some unexpected and shocking news right as I had boarded the ferry. In a haze, I decided I needed to get out of my car and take a walk. I thought I might need to throw up. Looking out into the dark from the railing of the ferry boat, I took a shot into the dark with the flash on.
